Retail standards that limit youth access to age-restricted products at Point of Sale

Retail Access Control Standards (RACS) are a set of guidelines set forth by JUUL Labs that enables retailers to enforce age restrictions at point of-sale (POS) for JUUL products. RACS enhances compliance through technology.

I.D. scanning built in.

Automatically requires I.D. scanning to verify age and I.D. validity when a JUUL product is identified. All U.S. driver’s licenses and state I.D.s can be scanned.

Bulk purchase blocking.

Automatically limits the amount of JUUL products that can be purchased to prevent social sourcing.

4/4

No clerk overrides.

Automatically integrated within POS to prevent manual override and limit clerk error.

Adoption across POS providers.

RACS-certified POS systems work with most 2D barcode scanners. The RACS program provides documentation and guidelines for building RACS into existing POS systems.

+ 0

Over 50 retail chains, totaling more than 40,000 outlets, have already committed to being RACS-compliant. More than 7,000 of those stores are currently in the process of implementing RACS, and we expect more than 15,000 stores to implement by the end of 2019.
